Curfew reimposed in Solapur as precautionary measure
Solapur, Nov 21 (UNI) Curfew was reimposed here from 1900 hrs today till 0500 hrs tomorrow as a precautionary measure after the violent incidents during the last five days in the city over the killings of four members of a Dalit family at Khairlanji.
Police have rounded up 450 persons in connection with the violence.
Deputy Commissioner Police (Crime) L R Bhosale told UNI here tonight although the situation was under control and no untoward incident was reported in the city since the past two days, the decision to reimpose curfew was taken to maintain law and order.
He said that 91 of the 450 persons arrested have been remanded to police custody and 34 other were sent to judicial custody. The others will be produced before a court tomorrow.
Mr Bhosale said 49 persons, including 31 police personnel, were injured in the stone pelting and five state transport buses were damaged, besides 100 private vehicles, DCP added.
