New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) The CPM has strongly condemned yesterday's blast in a passenger train at Belakoba station in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal -- in which seven people were killed -- saying the dastardly attack was the handiwork of ''reactionary elements.'' ''This dastardly attack has been engineered by certain reactionary and divisive elements,'' the CPM's Polit Bureau said in a statement here today.

Asking the state government to spare no efforts to identify the culprits and bring them to book, the CPM appealed to all sections of the people to remain vigilant to curb the activities of these nefarious forces.

The Polit Bureau also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their family members and expressed deep sympathy for those who sustained injuries.

At least seven people were killed and 60 injured, 25 of them critically, when a major explosion, triggered by suspected ultras, ripped through a general compartment of Haldibari passenger train at Belakoba station, 18 km from New Jalpaiguri, in North Bengal last evening.
