CM offers olive branch to petrol pump dealers
Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has today assured petrol pump dealers that the government would consider their demand of reducing sales tax, in the Cabinet meeting on November 24.
According to official sources, a delegation of the petrol pump dealers today called on the Chief Minister. During the discussion, he assured them that a common proposal, which would neither affect the state revenue and nor burden the dealers would be worked out in the Cabinet meeting.
The 2,700 petrol pump owners went on an indefinite strike from 0000 hrs on Monday demanding that 34 per cent sales tax should be reduced on par with the neighbouring states.
According to sources, the dealers were happy with this assurance however, there was no word from them about withdrawal of the strike.
