CM concerned over delay in centrally funded work

Agartala, Nov 21 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has expressed concern over delay in implementation of various development projects that were to be carried out in the North East region.

According to official sources Mr Sarkar has expressed concern over the delay before senior advisor of the Planning Commission A N Sinha in a meeting at the Secretariat last evening. Mr Sinha is in the state to review various projects of the Union Government.

The sources further revealed that Mr Sarkar had urged the senior advisor to speed up of the centrally funded projects in the state as well as the entire north east. He also requested Mr Sinha to ensure completion of the National Highway 44 into double lane keeping in mind the geographical importance of the state. ''The state needs to have better road and rail connectivity for the development of the entire NE region,'' he said.

Mr Sinha assured the chief minister that the Planning Commission will seriously take up the matter.

The 15-member central team is on a two-day visit to the NE to look into the progress of centrally funded projects.
