Bomb threat to church turns out to be hoax

Chennai, Nov 21 (UNI) The evening mass at St Mary's church at the Parry's Corner area ended abruptly today as the church received a bomb threat, which turned out to be a hoax.

The police said an anonymous caller informed the church authorities of St Antony's church at Pudupet saying that a bomb had been planted at St Mary's church and it would go off at 1900 hrs.

The matter was informed to the St Mary's church authorities as well as the police.

On being informed, the priest, who was conducting the evening mass, made an announcement about the bomb threat and asked the people to vacate the premises immediately.

Meanwhile, a police party came with a bomb detection squad and conducted a thorough search in the church premises, but no bomb was found, police added.
