BJP blames UPA's handling of terrorism for Bengal train blast

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Strongly condemning last night's blast on the Darjeeling Express train near New Jalpaiguri, the BJP today said it was the result of soft handling of terrorism by the UPA government.

The blast in the general compartment of the train left seven people dead and over 25 people injured seriously.

Expressing his party's grief over the blast, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said while it was yet to be ascertained who were behind the dastardly act, it was obvious that the culprits had their links beyond the borders and proved unhindered infiltration from Bangladesh.

The government's surrender before terror had emboldened the perpetrators while the resolve of the security forces to fight terror had been suppressed, he said reacting to the statement of Congress President Sonia Gandhi asking the police not to target members of a particular community after the Mumbai blasts.

Even Nepalese Maoist leader Prachanda had conceded that the Pakistani ISI had proposed support to his organisation.

He said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was talking of clemency for Mohammad Afzal, convicted for his role in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack which killed 11 security personnel.
