Imphal, Nov 21 (UNI) The Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project (ACTIP) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to stop construction of the Tipaimukh dam in Manipur.

Earlier it had objected the public hearing at Churachandpur district saying that it was not 'public' at all by any statuatory and common law standard or practice.

Meanwhile, the state government will organise another public hearing on the dam tomorrow at Tamenglong district.

The chairpersons of 16 village authorities from project-affected Churachandpur, who were objecting to the project, were not allowed at the hearing process.

In 2003, when public objections were invited by the state government, after signing an MoU with the NEEPCO, 22 village authorities from project-affected Tamenglong district had also submitted their written objections to the proposed project.

The ACTIP further informed that leading civil society organisations of the state were protesting against the project.
