Agartala, Nov 21 (UNI) Nine Bangladeshi infiltrators have been detained at Bishramganj in Tripura's West District on Sunday night when they were proceeding towards Bishramganj in a vehicle.

A senior police official today said police intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the Bangladeshi infiltrators who sneeked into India through Sonamura, close to Bangladesh border.

He said they entered India following the political turmoil in the neighbouring country. On interrogation they admitted that they were looking for greener pastures in Tripura as the political unrest in their country had caused hardship to the daily wage labourers.

All the nine arrested belonged to Coomilla District of Bangladesh and were between 20-30 years. They were produced before the court yesterday, the police official informed.

Meanwhile, Border Security Forces (BSF) and state police have intensified their vigilence in the bordering areas because of political unrest in that country.
