Tamil Nadu, Punjab register outright victory

Jamshedpur, Nov 20 (UNI) Tamil Nadu and Punjab slapped innings defeat to register outright victory over Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra respectively on the concluding day of the three-day Coochbehar trophy Elite group A tie here today.

Tamil Nadu defeated lowly Uttar Pradesh by an innings and 177 runs while Punjab trounced Maharashtra by an innings and 53 runs. Both have garnered five points each with one bonus point.

Trailing by first innings 287 runs Uttar Pradesh resumed at overnight 42 for three and were caved in for a paltry 110 runs in their second innings at Keenan stadium.

All rounder Mohammad Khalid, who scalped five wickets yesterday also came good with the willow scoring the highest 22 runs while Gaurav Goel and A Dwivedi could manage to score 17 and 15 runs respectively.

For Tamil Nadu M Prabhu and N Enistein bagged three wickets each giving away 23 and 12 runs while V Yomahesh picked up two wickets off 26 runs.
