Soz advise Muslim to send children in modern school
Jammu, Nov 20 (UNI) Terming education provided in Madarassas as ''irrelevant,'' Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today advised Muslims to said their children to modern government-run institutions for education.
Talking to reporters at 'Meet the Press' programme at Jammu Press Club, Mr Soz stressed a national curriculum in every educational institutions. ''I have never been in favour of the Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee's proposal on giving recognition to degrees provided by Madrases,'' he said.
The senior Muslim leader from Jammu and Kashmir, contended that there was no need of religious madarassas in modern society. ''The Muslim children can learn the religion-related things at home,'' he added.
''I visited eastern most part of Uttar Pradesh where I found that Madrass-education was a compulsion for some school going children,'' the Union Minister said.
On reservations for Mulsims, he said that if there was such a reservation, the creamy layer within the community will have to go out so that the benefits percolate to those deserving.'' UNI HGV SHB KP2142
