Services in oil fields to continue as public utility
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The services in any oil field covered under the Industrial Disputes Act will continue to be public utilities for another six months, Labour Ministry announced today.
The employees, as a result, would be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started, the ministry said in a notification.
During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees can not go on strike.
The services in this industry were earlier declared public utility for six months from November 19, 2005 and subsequently the period was extended for another six months from May 19 to November 19 this year.
