Rupee opens higher by 5 paise at 44.86/89
Mumbai, Nov 20: The rupee today opened higher by five paise and was quoted against at Rs 44.86/89 per US dollar as compared to it's previous close of Rs 44.91/93 per US dollar, on fresh buying support of dollar by bankers, traders said.
Later, the domestic currency hiked to Rs 44.90/92 per USD on account of short-covering by local dealers, and is now trading again at a firm of ten paise at Rs 44.84/86 per USD from it's previous close of 44.91/93, due to sustained demand of the dollar by the corporate sector and nationalised banks, traders added.
