Rahul Mahajan denies wife abuse tabloid story

Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, today denied a city-based tabloid report that his less than three-month-old marriage was on the verge of collapse because of ''physical and verbal abuse''.

The daily claimed that Rahul had ''regularly beaten and thrashed Shweta'' from the day he had married her and the story was accompanied by a photograph which showed Shweta with a bruise on her right arm.

However, denying the report, Rahul described it as totally ''baseless'' and added that they both were shocked at this news.

''This is an invasion of our privacy and they (media) have not even bothered to take our reaction before making these allegations,'' he said and added that their family has been constantly hit by crisis in the last few months but would face it.

Speaking about the photograph in which Shweta was seen showing a bruise, Rahul said photographs like this could be doctored using software.

He said Shweta was in Dehra Dun and on her return, they would discuss the matter and contemplate action.

Rahul, who was involved in a drug controversy immediately after the death of his father, subsequently married his former colleague from Jet airways, who is a pilot.
