Punjab Police now has 8 DGPs as 4 more top brass elevated

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) Punjab government today promoted Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs) N P S Aulakh, Rajdeep Singh Gill, Mohd Izhar Alam and A P Pandey to the rank of DGP, taking the total number of DGPs in the state to eight.

Mr Pandey (1974 batch) has been appointed as DGP Prisons, from his earlier posting of ADGP Administration, while DGPs Rajdeep Singh Gill (1973 batch) and Mohd Izhar Alam (1974 batch) would continue as Director, Punjab Police Academy and Chief Director, Vigilance respectively, according to an official notification issued here.

Mr Aulakh of 1972 batch has been given proforma promotion as he has already been continuing as DGP, BSF at Delhi on deputation.

Besides Punjab Police Chief DGP S S Virk, P Lal, G S Aujla and K K Atri are already holding the rank 8 DGPs.
