PNB, BPCL, Namdhari advance to Nehru quarterfinals

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Punjab National Bank advanced to the quarterfinals after grounding Indian Airlines 6-3 while Bharat Petroleum and Namdhari XI also made it to the last eight after playing out a 1-1 draw at the Nehru Cup hockey tournament here today.

In a Group D match, PNB raised their game after the breather to thrash Indian Airlines after both sides were 2-2 at the end of the first half. Jatinder Kumar and Bikas Toppo scored braces apiece in the Bankmen's win.

The Group A match between Bharat Petroleum and Namdhari XI was a less eventful affair. After a goalless first half, the Namdharis took lead through Jatinderpal Singh in the 50th minute. Four minutes later, Sarabjit Singh struck as BPCL drew parity.

Meanwhile, in another match, Somanna sounded the board twice as Karnataka XI defeated SAI XI 4-2.
