Over 37 lakh tonnes paddy arrive in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) Over 37.78 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said that out of the total paddy arrival, 28.26 lakh tonnes was leviable and 9.52 lakh tonnes basmati and other superior quality.

He said over 20.36 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six Government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 17.42 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Mr Chander Mohan said that Hafed had procured 8.99 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 6.03 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation with 2.42 lakh tonnes, Confed with 1.76 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 1.02 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,929 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with 7.19 lakh tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal 5.44 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 4.89 lakh tonnes, Kaithal with 4.78 lakh tonnes and Ambala 3.16 lakh tonnes.

The state had also delivered over 3.89 lakh tonnes of rice to the central pool so far, as against 3.08 lakh tonnes of rice delivered during the corresponding period last year, he added.
