Naxals kill former maoist in AP

Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 20 (UNI) A former naxal, belonging to the CPI(Maoist), was shot dead near Macharajukunta village here today evening.

Police sources said when former naxal, Sureshbabu alias Reghu came to the house of his mother-in-law, six Maoists attacked him there, killing him on the spot.

Sureshbabu surrendered before the police two years ago. Recently the police presented him a taxi car to earn his livelihood under the naxals rehabilitation programme.

In another incident, naxals opened fire on the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activist Gutti Srinivas Rao while he was taking lunch at his house near Amangudipad village here.

Mr Srinivas, Rao who sustained bullet injuries in the attack, was taken to Guntur Government hospital.
