Bhopal, Nov 20 (UNI) The election of Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as the next state BJP President remained a mere formality with only one candidate filing nomination in the scheduled time.

Mr Tomar's election will be announced formally after a meeting of state party representatives here tomorrow.

Mr Tomar will resign from minister's the post of minister in line with the BJP's principle of 'one man one post'. He will replace Dalit leader Satyanarain Jatia, who had taken over as the state BJP President in February this year.

BJP General Secretary Omprakash Mathur told reporters here that Mr Tomar had submitted three nominations each containing names of 10 proposers.

On inspection, all of them were found true and Mr Tomar received support from all regions and sections of the state.

Replying to a question, Mr Mathur claimed that the selection of Mr Tomar was not imposed by the party central leadership.

Rather, a consensus was reached over Mr Tomar's name during discussion between state leaders.

He pointed out that it was after two party organisational elections that a consensus over one candidate for the post of state party president was reached.
