KJSSU demonstrates on NH 6

Kolkata, Nov 20 (UNI) Kanoria Jute Sangrami Sramik Union(KJSSU) today demonstrated on the National Highway 6 of Mansatala under Uluberia police station area in protest against the state government's failure to implement an agreement signed between both the parties.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Howrah Satyajit Banerjee rushed to the spot with a large number of police forces.

The union withdrew the demonstration after getting written assurances from Uluberia SDO office. A meeting would be held with the KJSSU and the Sub-divisional administration within a week.

KJSSU chief advisor Prafulla Chakraborty said here the state government had agreed to run Kanoria Jute Mill of Phuleswar by the workers' union on co-operative basis and an agreement was signed between the state government and KJSSU on February 28, 1994.

However, the government did not take any initiative in this regard, Mr Chakraborty said.
