ITDC nets huge profit

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has registered a record profit during April-October with the figures showing an increase of 1346 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Tourism Minister Ambika Soni said here today that the profit of the ITDC had gone up by 184 per cent during the first quarter this year, in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

She said the main growth had come from the hotels division and duty free shops in international airports. The ITDC is managing 16 hotels across the country.

All the hotel units, except the one in Jammu, have shown an upward trend during April-October this year.

The profit of the ITDC were at Rs 18.37 crore during April-October this year as compared to a profit of Rs 1.27 crore during the same period last year.
