Chandigarh, Nov 20: The Haryana Tourism department has tied up with farmers of the state to introduce the concept of farm tourism, the first-of-its-kind in the country.

The Tourism department, in partnership with 20 farm owners in Haryana, is offering special country holiday packages in chosen farms. These farms are located in the lap of Mother Nature, near Delhi, and offer mystical beauty and charm to soothe the rough and tumble of daily life.

This concept has become the main attraction at the tourism stall at Haryana Pavilion in India International Trade Fair-2006 in New Delhi, an official spokesman here yesterday stated.

Curious visitors, particularly BPO employees, software engineers and business executives have evinced a keen interest in the concept, which forms part of the departments plans to promote back-to-roots and back-to-nature tourism in the state. This concept encourages tourists to go in for farm holidays rather than rush to congested cities and towns of the country.

The farms offer an experience of a life-style that's true of real India--rich in age old traditions, ethnic arts and crafts. However, these farms have modern day facilities to make tourists stay comfortable.
