HC to view film based on Rajiv killing for Censor clearance

Chennai, Nov 20 (UNI) The First Bench of Madras High court comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Mr Justice K Chandru, will view on November 22, the Tamil film ''Kutrapatrikai'', allegedly based on the assasination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

When an appeal filed by Central Board of Film Certification, challenging a single judge's order directing issuance of certification for the film, came up for hearing, the Bench directed the producer of the film to make arrangements for a special screening in a preview theatre on November 22, to enable them to view the film.

The Bench posted further hearing of the petition to November 23.

Mr Babu Ramasamy, Regional Manager, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) filed the appeal on behalf of its chairperson, challenging the order of the single Judge on March 20 this year, directing issuance of film certification to the film with some cuts and deletion.
