Federation to organise bandh in UT

Puducherry, Nov 20 (UNI) The federation of village panchayat presidents would soon organise a 24-hour bandh in the Union Territory to press their demands.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the federation at Villianur near here today.

The federation along with the councillors were struggling to arm themselves with powers as the administration was reluctant to devolve powers to them.

The meeting also resolved to picket the local administration department here on November 23 and to hoist black flags atop the houses of all elected representatives soon.
