Surat, Nov 20 (UNI) The embroidery textile sector in Surat is all set to grow at a rate of 30 per cent per annum in the next five years, according to I C Seth, a textile consultant.

He was presenting a paper on the growing embroidery textile industry at a seminar organised as part of 'Yarn Expo-2006' here today.

''During the last six years, leading global embroidery manufacturers have diverted from the European and American markets to India,'' said Mr Seth.

He said in the last six years, more than 30 players from China, four players from Europe, two players from Japan and one player from South Korea have set up their base in the Indian market.

According to a rough estimate, an investment of Rs 1,000 crore had already been made in the sector in the country.

Mr Seth said due to historical conditions, Surat is the best place for the embroidery industry to grow. As Surat produces large quantities of polyster, nylon and viscose fabrics, it is the best place for the embroidery industry.

''We are already witnessing many embroidery units in Delhi and Amritsar relocating to Surat,'' he added.

IIGM Pvt Ltd vice president Shailesh Dhabi said the embroidery sector has much scope as it is used not only in apparel products but in non-apparel segment too.
