Dalits are still marginalised section: Buta Singh

Surat, Nov 20 (UNI) Former Union minister and Dalit leader Buta Singh today said that even after 50 years of Independence, the dalit population in the country was still lagging behind in the national mainstream.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Singh said even though many dalits resorted to religious conversion, there was no improvement in their economic condition.

Mr Singh alleged that the atrocities against the dalits had increased under the Narendra Modi regime in Gujarat.

He warned against not giving reservation to the creamy layer sections and said that various organisations would begin a movement against such moves from December 6.
