Hyderabad, Nov 20 (UNI) The CPI(M) might not support Congress candidates in the bypolls to Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabaha seats.

''The party is unlikely to support Congress candidates due to the 'anti-people' policies of the government,''CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh secretary and politburo member B V Raghavulu told reporters here on the occasion of the two-day state committee meeting of the party.

However, the CPI had decided to support Congress candidates in both the constituencies following a direction from the central leadership.

Both the Communist parties have little presence in the constituencies.

Mr Raghavulu said the CPI(M), which joined hands along with CPI and Telangana Rashtra Samiti with Congress in the 2004 general elections that swept the Congress back to power after a gap of nine years would intensify the agitation for the cause of people, which would be displaced under the 'Polavaram' project in East Godavari district.

He said his party would take the support of recently elected representatives of the local bodies.

The CPI(M) leader said his party would demand implementation of the recommendations of the 'Empowered Committee' appointed by the Supreme Court to resolve the demands of those, who would be displaced under 'Polavaram.' UNI JRK PDM HT1805
