Copper prices up on improved industrial demand
Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) Copper prices rose on improved industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange today said.
In the ferrous category, copper heavy and copper utensils shot up by Rs 300 and Rs 500 per quintal, respectively, while brass utensils and brass cuttings rose by Rs 100 each per quintal on reduced stock supply. But aluminium utensils declined by Rs 100 per quintal on increased offers by stockists.
In the non-ferrous section, copper wire bars and lead ingots hiked by Rs 500 and Rs 100 per quintal, respectively, on increase of fresh demand.
Tin slab went up by Rs two per kg on improved demand while nickel eased by Rs ten per kg on thin buying support.
Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 34,500, copper utensils - Rs 30,500, brass utensils - Rs 21,800, brass cuttings - Rs 25,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,800.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 36,500, aluminium ingots - Rs 13,700, zinc slab - Rs 22,500, lead ingots - Rs 7,600, tin slab - Rs 577 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,740 (per kg).
