Congress seeks cooperation of CPI, CPI(M) to defeat JD(S)
Bangalore, Nov 20 (UNI) The Congress today sought the cooperation of the Communist Party of India, CPI (Marxist) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to defeat the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate in the December 4 byelection to Chamundeswari Assembly seat.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote letters to the leaders of CPI, CPI(M) and BSP in this regard, according to a party release here.
He said JD(S) has joined hands with the ''communal'' Bharatiya Janata Party, throwing all principles of secularism to the winds and the time has come to teach a lesson to the parties which indulge in ''opportunistic politics.'' The Congress victory in Chamundeswari constituency is necessary to upkeep national integration and maintain communal harmony, he added.
