CM announces solatium of Rs 50,000

Chennai, Nov 20: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the families of five Aiyappa devotees who were washed away in floods on Saturday.

The tragedy occurred when the devotees were taking a bath at Panchalinga falls near Udumalai.

An official release here said two bodies have been recovered and a search was on to trace the remaining bodies.

Expressing anguish over the deaths, Mr Karunanidhi announced the assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
