BJP to move Adjournment Motion on National Security in Parliament

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The BJP will bring an adjourment motion in the Winter session of Parliament beginning on Wednesday against Government on national security scenario, which it claimed was worsening day by day even as it decided not to allow the House to run on November 22 on the same issue.

The decision was taken an hour-long meeting of NDA leaders at former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence here this evening.

Other issues which will be strongly raised by the BJP and its allies include price rise, corruption, politically motivated cases against NDA convener George Fernandes, Ms Maneka Gandhi, Ms Nazma Heptullah and former union minister Arun Shourie.

Talking to newspersons after the meeting, BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the date when the adjournment motion would be moved will be decided tomorrow.

He said that in the adjournment motion the NDA while expressing its serious concern over the internal security scenario would expose the government's failure to check spurt in terrorist and extremists activities resulting in death of many innocent people in many states. Besides naxalism and other extremist activities had also increased in several parts of the country, he added.

The NDA would also link national security to issues like Scorpean Deal, Italian business Ottavio Quattrocchi, one of the accused in the Bofors gun deal and Mitrokhin Archives, Mr Malhotra said.

In case, it was not allowed then the opposition would raising this corruption related issues separately, he informed.

The other issue which the NDA would be raising very strongly was the price rise which had affected the common man badly. It would take the government to task for utterly failing to arrest the rise in prices during the past more than two years.

Besides it would also point out that the price rise of almost all commodities could be the due to the prevaling high prices of petrol and diesel. It would point out that while the prices of both petrol and diesel had come down in the international market, the Government instead of reducing them had been increasing off and on.

The meeting attended by leaders of almost all NDA constituents, also decided to rap the government for indulging in political vendetta and having got cases filed against many opposition leaders.

Meanwhile NDA leaders have also decided to pay homage to the security forces personnel who had died in terrorist attack on Parliament five years ago.
