BJP expresses happiness at Maharashtra local body elections results
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The BJP today expressed its happiness over the good showing of the party in urban local body elections in Maharashtra in which it had improved its standing by winning 500 Nagarpalika seats as against its previous tally of 375.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the party had contested 1,200 seats in alliance with Shiv Sena, but the results had shown that the Shiv Sena and Congress had emerged with reduced strength while Nationalist Congres Party had emerged stronger.
The party had done well winning 165 Nagarpalikas especially in Yeotmal in Vidarbha when had witnessed the maximum number of farmers suicides.
