ATSUM's strike enters its 8th day in Manipur
Imphal, Nov 20 (UNI) The economic blockade on National highway 53 and 39 in Manipur has entered into its eighth day today.
The ATSUM had called the strike from November 13 to 27 demanding proper policy for the tribal students.
The transport movement had come to a halt and the ATSUM members have threatened to take violent actions if any vehicles plied on these highways, sources said.
The Kuki Students Organisation, Sardar Hills (KSO-SH) has also supported the stir, sources said.
The ATSUM had alleged that the government had never implemented the agreements reached earlier.
They have demanded pension benefits to district council employees, convert grant-in-aid schools to government ones and extend the services of teachers appointed on contract basis .
