Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) The bail application of 21-year-old Alistair Anthony Pereira, arrested for allegedly running over and killing seven labourers at Carter Road in Bandra on November 12, will come up for hearing tomorrow.

Pereira, son of a city businessman, had moved the bail application before the sessions court Judge A T Amlekar here November 18.

He contended that he has been in the custody of the police since November 12 and hence police had sufficient time to investigate the matter.

He had neither the knowledge nor the intention of committing the crime and hence section 304 was not applicable.

Being a young man, his entire career will be jeopardised if he continued to be in custody for a long time.

In the early hours of November 12, Alistair's Toyato Corola ran over 15 construction workers sleeping in front of a temporary shed on Carter road in which seven persons died and eight were seriously injured.

Last Saturday, Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate court had granted Judicial Custody to Alistair. He has been charged under IPC 279, 336, 337, 338, 304, 427 and 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
