Imphal, Nov 20 (UNI) The Action Committee against Tipaimukh Project (ACTIP) today has threatened to boycott the political parties if they supported the dam's construction.

However, state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has announced that the government would go ahead with the project despite strong protests.

The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), who had taken up the project, said about Rs 7000 crore would be spend in constructing the dam.

Some portion of the state would also be affected, ACTIP said.

The ACTIP had warned the political parties to make their stand clear by November 25 and all parties should drop the issue from the election manifesto, ACTIP convenor O Vikramjit said.

They have also protested the Prime Minister's visit to lay the dam's foundation stone on November 27, sources said.

Senior state government officials have started preparations of the foundation laying ceremony at Tipaimukh in Churachandpur district, official sources said.

Describing the dam as anti-people, ACTIP said it would also boycott Prime Minister and Congress President Sonia Gandhi's visit to the state.
