161 units put to seal, 1145 sealed since Nov 8

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Continuing with its sealing drive, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today put to seal 161 units in South and Najafgarh zone.

The sealed units included a Sony showroom in Greater Kailash-I.

In today's sealing drive, 97 units were sealed at Najafgarh-Nangloi Road falling in Najafgarh Zone while in South Zone, 64 units located at Hans Raj Gupta Marg, Greater Kailash-I were sealed, an MCD spokesperson said.

With today's sealing operation, a total of 1145 properties have been sealed since the sealing drive resumed on November 8 on the orders of the Supreme Court, the spokesperson said.

Among the major units sealed during the MCD drive are TRAI's Office, Kangaroo Kids (1st&2nd Floor), Shehnaz Hussain Beauty Products Shop and several restaurants and jewellery showrooms in South zone.

Also sealed were the CTC Plaza, Bata Showroom, Haldiram, IGP Mall, Regency Guest House, Sita Play School, Kumar Holiday Inn, Surya Inn and Royal Court Inn in Central zone.

The MCD received a total number of 18,305 affidavits/undertakings till November 19 relating to stoppage of misuser.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the BJP Legislative party led by their leader Jagdish Mukhi met President A P J Abdul Kalam and handed over a memorandum to him to resolve the sealing problem in Delhi.

The delegation, which included Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan, party chief whip S P Ratawal, Dy chief whip Saheb Singh Chauhan and general secretary Sushil Chaudhry, requested Dr Kalam to ensure than the Centre brings out the "One time Amnesty Scheme" to give full relief to the traders and residents of residential areas.
