145 DPI activists arrested in Puducherry
Puducherry, Nov 20 (UNI) As many as 145 volunteers of the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI), including 25 women were arrested when they attempted to barge into the Chief Secretariat office where an official meeting under the Chairmanship of Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and Chief Minister N Rangasamy was underway.
The agitation was called by the DPI activists to protest against the transfer of funds under the Special Component Plan (SCP) meant for the Scheduled Caste to other departments.
The agitationists demanded that the fund under the SCP should be utilised only for the welfare of the Adidravidars.
