Ten arrested for indulging in illicit liquor

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu Nov 19 (UNI) Police today arrested ten people, including two women for storing illicit liquor, from a house at Maraimalai Nagar near Chengalpattu in this district.

Talking to newspersons here District Police Superintendent A Amalraj said the main culprit Seeman was absconding. He was arrested twice earlier under the 'Goondas Act'. But he was continuing the illicit trade even after his release.

Mr Amalraj said police seized the illicit liquor and impounded a few vehicles worth Rs ten lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the spot and nabbed the wrong-doers. Stern action would be initiated against the offenders, he added.
