SMB creates strict rules for Clean Shillong

Shillong, Nov 19 (UNI) The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) in Meghalaya has restricted littering of any kind on the street and footpath within the 'Special Clean Zone I'.

The SMB had declared the area from Barik Point upto Motphran here as a 'Special Clean Zone I', where efforts would be put to ensure cleanliness of the area.

The Board would not allow accumulation of garbage anywhere in the zone. Vendors would be allowed along the roads within the zone, SMB Chief Executive Officer W L Lyngdoh said.

Mr Lyngdoh said the SMB would daily collect garbage in two shifts, sweep roads, collect garbage from door to door, install trash bins at different locations and monitor them regularly.
