Police commissioner orders detention of three bishops

Chennai, Nov 19 (UNI) City Police Commissioner Latika Saran today ordered detention of three Bishops, who were arrested in connection with a construction racket involving several lakhs of rupees, under the Goondas Act.

Central Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner of Police G Dharmarajan said the three, Joseph Solomon, Isaac Samuel and J D Solomon of North Chennai had allegedly collected huge sums of money from contractors in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, promising them contracts for constructing houses for tsunami victims.

The Bishops had allegedly misappropriated money and failed to issue the contracts, he added.

He said the trio were arrested on October 14 and search for one more accused Sathyaseelan, who was absconding, was on.
