Pachyderm killed in an accident

Siliguri, Nov 19 (UNI) A wild tusker was killed after being hit by a goods train at Mongpong forest between Sevok and Bagracote rail station under Kalimpong forest division in Darjeeling last night.

Divisional Manager (Wildlife-II) Kalimpong Forest Division N S Murli told UNI here today that the body of the pachyderm was sent for post-mortem.

The forest officers reached the place to investigate the accident. This was the second tusker to have died within the past seven days.

Similar accident took place at Madarihat in Dooars on November 13.
