Pachyderm killed in accident
Siliguri, Nov 19 (UNI) A wild tusker was killed after being hit by a goods train at Mongpong forest between Sevok and Bagracote rail station under Kalimpong forest division in Darjeeling last night.
Divisional Manager (Wildlife-II) Kalimpong Forest Division N S Murli told UNI here today that the body of the pachyderm was sent for a post-mortem.
The forest officers reached the place to investigate the accident. This was the second tusker to have died within the past seven days.
A similar accident took place at Madarihat in Dooars on November 13.
