'Left to demand compensation for agri labourers'
Hyderabad, Nov 19: Demanding the Centre review the policy being adopted for the setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram Yechuri today said the party would raise the issue of paying compensation to the affected agriculture labourers in the wake of land acqisition for it.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Yechuri said the government has agreed to pay compensation to land owners only. Compensation should also be paid to the agriculture labourers who lost employment. The issue would be raised in the Parliament during the winter session.
He also demanded that the government take steps to provide bank loans to farmers at four per cent interest.
