Centre sanctions funds for 62 irrigation programmes for Jammu: SOZ

Jammu, Nov 19 (UNI) The centre has sanctioned Rs 52 crore for 62 programmes of small irrigation projects for 'Kandi' areas in this region of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Water Resources Minister Saif-ud-din Soz said today.

Addressing a rally here to mark 89th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr Soz said union government had sanctioned Rs 52 crore for 62 irrigation programmes in Jammu region.

Besides this, he said, at least 22 more programmes were still in the pipeline, totaling the overall amount up to Rs 75 crore.

A survey of 'Kandi' areas will be conducted shortly, the minister further added.
