BSF to establish counter-insurgency school
Aizawl, Nov 19 (UNI) The BSF today announced to open a counter-insurgency school to train and strengthen its personnel in jungle warfare and anti-sabotage operations.
BSF officials here said the institute would be built on around 400 acres of land on the outskirts of Banglore.
Currently, such training is available at Army's Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) at Vairangte in Mizoram and the NSG training centre at Manesar in Harayana.
Though BSF is not directly involved in counter-insurgency operations, the decision to open such a school was made as it was felt that paramilitry forces do not have specialisation for tackling the menace.
The Home Ministry had approved the setting up of the specialised school, officials said.
The BSF personnel would not only provide training in commando operations, anti-guerilla tactics and explosive detection and disposal, but also update and familiarise the officers with the latest techniques and sharpen their skills, they said.
