BJP to strengthen agitation on ORR project
Hyderabad, Nov 19 (UNI) Newly elected Andhra Pradesh President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bandaru Dattatreya today said the party would strengthen the agitation on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project and support the demands of the displaced persons.
Talking to newspersons after taking charge as party President from the outgoing President N Indrasena Reddy at the party office here, he said the party would wholeheartedly support the demand 'land to land' of the displaced persons, who lost their lands and houses in the project.
Mr Dattatreya said the people had confidence on the party on its agitation on separate Statehood for Telangana. The Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were misleading the people on separate Telangana issue and these parties were raising the issue only to protect their posts, he alleged.
He said the party would raise the issue in the coming bypoll to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency and also strengthen the movement before 2009 elections.
Earlier Telangana Janata Party merged into the BJP. Mr Dattatreya urged the party to support the BJP candidate Ch Vidyasagar Rao in the Karimnagar by-election.
Later, he felicitated Bagicha Singh from Haryana, who was undertaking country tour for the 11th time. Mr Singh, who reached the city two days back said he had started his journey from Manipal to create sensitisation among the people on the HIV-AIDS, danger on Gutka chewing, and for unity among the people.
