Bharti Airtel launches 'Airtel songcatcher'

New Delhi, Nov 19: Bharti Airtel has launched country's first instant music on mobile, 'Airtel Songcatcher' that will enable mobile users to search and download songs as hello tunes.

There are 25,000 songs available on hello tunes and besides Hindi and English, the songs will be available in 18 different Indian languages. The cost involved for search of a song would be Rs 2 and Rs 15 per tune.

To download, the mobile customers shall dial 393 and hold the phone near the speaker (playing their own choice of song) to catch the DNA of the song. As the DNA of the requested song is matched with the 25,000 songs available on Hello Tunes, the songs get downloaded in the mobile.

The company has partnered with Korea-based SKc&c, an innovator of cutting edge mobile applications and B2B solutions for the songcatcher.

''Songcatcher will dramatically change the dynamics of music purchase on mobiles and for a nation of music lovers, the simplicity and ease of this service is a big boon'' said Bharti Airtel Ltd Director (Marketing and Communication) Gopal Vittal.

The music recognition technology enables quick and easy access to music based on an algorithm that is capable of identifying patterns in music by matching voice frequencies.

SKc&c co Ltd Director (Overseas operations) Kee Jin Soo said, ''Considering Airtel's success in the Indian telecom market, we have tied-up exclusively with Airtel for the time being and bringing this product first to the Indians''.
