Apollo Hospital signs pact with LHC

Mumbai, Nov 19 (UNI) Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) has signed a five-year agreement with Lanka Hospital Corporation (LHC) to provide its support services.

Over the last few months, the LHC has seen significant restructuring, both in their Board of Directors as also in the operations of Apollo Hospital, Colombo, a press release here today said.

During this period, on a request from the LHC management, the AHEL had agreed to support the medical team of the hospital for a brief time. However, the new LHC Board has deemed it necessary to continue to have an affiliation with the AHEL, the release said.

Under the new agreement, the LHC Board will have control over the operational management of the hospital but it will continue to be called Apollo Hospital, Colombo. The use of the reputed Apollo Hospitals brand will ensure that the hospital maintains the highest standards of service delivery, the release added.

A senior team from Apollo will also assist and advice LHC on its continuous improvement so as to enable the latter to obtain an accredition from the Joint Commission International.

Besides, Apollo will assist LHC with the recruitment of medical personnel. Specialists in various disciplines, consultants, surgeons, nurses and other medical staff to be employed by Apollo Hospital Colombo, will be recruited by Apollo, based on the high delivery standards set jointly by both companies, the release said.

Top medical consultants from Apollo Hospitals in India will conduct periodic surgical camps in collaboration with the Colombo Hospital for patients who cannot afford treatment out of Sri Lanka.

AHEL chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy, speaking about the partnership, said, ''Over the past 23 years, Apollo has developed significant strengths to conceptualise and manage international standard hospitals. We are pleased to be able to offer this heritage of expertise to our latest franchisee partner, the Lanka Hospitals Corporation.'' UNI ARM MAZ KD BS2033
