Govt to levy service tax on pay channels

Hyderabad, Nov 19: Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to levy service tax on pay channels in view of the outflow of Rs 200 crore to other States through the TV channels.

The Government also decided to entrust the responsibility of collecting the five per cent entertainment tax on cable television to the commercial tax department, a press release here said.

The decision on service tax was taken at a review meeting on entertainment tax, presided over by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with the officials of Film Development Corporation, last night, the release added.
