Amarinder claims Congress will recapture power in Punjab
Barnala, Nov 19 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today claimed that the Congress would sweep the polls in the forthcoming assembly elections on the poll plank of development and performance.
Addressing a public rally formally giving recognition to Barnala as the 20th district of the state, Capt Singh said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Parkash Singh Badal had miserably failed in delivering the goods during his rule and now he was again harping on false promises and tall claims to woo the voters.
Capt Singh appealed to the people to beware of the nefarious designs of the Akalis. He claimed that his government had implemented all the poll promises in its elections manifesto of 2002 and was now fully committed to implement its unaccomplished agenda of development during the next tenure to put Punjab on a high growth trajectory.
Dwelling on the over all development progress, he said the production of cotton crop which had gone down to seven lakh bales from 25 lakh bales was now expected to cross the target of 28 lakh bales with the introduction of BT cotton seeds and high quality pesticides.
