Two members of Salem's group arrested
Bhopal, Nov 18 (UNI) Police have arrested two members of underworld don Abu Salem's group from Rajsthan and Uttar Pradesh even as a local court has issued a production warrant to produce Salem before the court on December 15 for hearing in a fake passport case.
Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh said a special police team from Bhopal arrested Wajid (38) from Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan and C P Rai alias Chandraprakash (45) from Mau district of Uttar Pradesh.
Wajid and Chandraprakash were arrested along with five others three years back for attempting to murder shooters Akbar and Nafees, who failed to carry out Salem's instruction to kill Siraj, who is an accused in fake passport case.
The duo escaped after obtaining bail from court. A arrest warrant had been issued against them.
On November 28, 2001, a case was registered at the Koh-i-Fiza Police Station against Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and girlfriend Monica Bedi for having fake passports made at the regional passport office using the names Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Osman respectively.
Salem's local associates Saiyyad Abdul alias Abdul Siraj and his brother Kabir alias Baba Abu are out on bail while Samira is absconding.
